. Videos. The POD HD500X is the ultimate tone palette, whether you want to re-create classics or go somewhere new with the ability to recall up to 512 totally different rigs-with changes to preamp type, power amp configuration, guitar type, polyphonic alt-tuning, effects chain and more. And thanks to HD technology, POD HD500X provides the depth, character and touch nuance to inspire your creativity in the studio or on stage. So if you've never experienced the flagship of the POD family, now's the time to check out POD HD500X. World-Class HD Amps From vintage classics to modern powerhouses, each HD amp delivers incredible sonic depth, character and touch nuance to inspire your playing-and that's just the beginning. Customize the tone and dynamic response of each HD amp with an extensive set of deep parameters including Sag, Bias, Bias Excursion, Hum and more.
100+ Studio and Stomp Effects POD HD500X gives you over 100 studio and boutique stomp effects, so you can take your sound in any direction. Emulate classic signal chains with distortions, delays, mods, filters, reverbs and more, or discover entirely new sounds by mixing and matching up to eight simultaneous effects. You also get pro-grade, assignable footswitches and a built-in, die-cast expression pedal to control your effects in real time. More Processing Power, More Creativity With unparalleled flexibility and more processing power than anything in its class, POD HD500X is built for tone creation. To start, POD features dynamic DSP, so you have the freedom to stack the effects you want wherever you want them.
Compared to its predecessor, POD HD500X lets you add even more effects to your signal chain. You can also mix and match HD amps, cabinets, mics and effects in virtually endless combinations. With 512 presets, you've got plenty of options for recalling your tones. Sculpt Sounds with Dual Signal Paths Legendary guitar tones are often created with more than one signal path. POD HD500X lets you create these complex, rich tones without the setup headaches of traditional dual-amp rigs. You can route your guitar through two completely independent paths-each with its own HD amp and effects chain, of course-or process two signals at once using the 1/4' guitar, 1/4' auxiliary or XLR mic inputs. So whether you want to configure elaborate signal chains for more traditional stereo amp setups, or create unique soundscapes, you've picked the right tool.
Assignable Footswitches and Rugged Construction With POD HD500X, you get professional-grade footswitches with bright LED rings for at-a-glance operation. You can use them to enable or bypass amps and effects, or to select presets directly. If you want to get more creative, you can assign multiple amp and effects parameters to the expression pedal and morph between sounds-controlling up to 52 parameters in real time. The footswitches also control the built-in 48-second looper-an instrument unto itself.
The bent-metal chassis and rugged construction make POD HD500X ideal for any stage. Flexible I/O for Recording with Any DAW POD HD500X provides all the connections you need for studio, stage and anywhere in between. You can plug in a mic to record vocals or acoustic instruments, track with your favorite HD amps, use the stereo FX loop to connect stompboxes and outboard effects, and much more. Connect to your computer via USB for multi-channel, studio-quality recording with your favorite DAW software-or tap into POD HD Edit, the free editor/librarian software that makes it easy to tweak and organize all your tones. Command Center for Your Guitar Experience It doesn't matter if you use a guitar amp, go straight to the PA or take advantage of a next-gen full-range guitar rig-POD HD500X is the ideal command center for any guitar setup.
It's a fully assignable MIDI controller, so you can use the footswitches and expression pedal to control all kinds of external hardware and software-and it gets even better when you use POD HD500X with other Line 6 gear. Step up from Pod XT but is it needed? Old and New: Sold my XT live a couple years ago. Used for recording Bass and Guitar and was happy for the most part with the sounds.
Figured the HD 500 would be. Old and New: Sold my XT live a couple years ago. Used for recording Bass and Guitar and was happy for the most part with the sounds. Figured the HD 500 would be better. Front of Amp and 4 cable method: When hooking up to front of amp and adjusting for my amps (Blackstar HT5 and HT 20 Studio) wanted to split the effects in my amps (compression/Overdrive in front, delays and reverb in the loop). Used the 4 cable method and adjusted the best I could.
Sounds just don't translate well regardless of the amps you use and it sounds synthetic (note: blackstar are probably the most neutral/sterile sounding clean amps out. They don't share a common treble, mid, bass and ISF). Best Use: That said this is a recording board and nothing else. Good range of amps and pedals that are tweakable to taste when running through head phones or a interface.
Best suited for rock and heavy music as that hides the lost subtly of tube amps during clean breaks or held long sustained notes. With todays computer software, numerous plug in programs do the same thing at less cost. Those have better (larger and practical layout) dashboards and sound just as good or better. Final: I got on craigslist with a case for 180. Will use for my bass and some amp models for color so would I buy, yes but not at full price. Very sterile sounding I'm an ammeter who's been playing 35 years.
I bought this for home use. I wanted to upgrade my sound by running a high quality pedal board into studio monitors - get something.
I'm an ammeter who's been playing 35 years. I bought this for home use. I wanted to upgrade my sound by running a high quality pedal board into studio monitors - get something really versatile. After doing a lot of online research, I bought a POD HD500X, expecting to be amazed.
Sadly, I wasn't. I didn't find the sound of this pedal board to be very good. At least not for the tones I love: warm classic rock, 70's rock, 70's hard rock, classic heavy metal. The POD HD's amp models sound dull and sterile.
I didn't find the effects to be anything to write home about, either. (Note: I was mindful of using the correct power amp verses guitar amp output modes, and tried the unit out in both configurations.) On paper, and in theory, everything about this unit sounds great. I'm sure the guys at Line 6 put a lot of effort into developing it. But after a couple of weeks of unsuccessfully trying to dial in a good tone (I did use the computer based companion software), I threw in the towel and returned it. (BTW, if you do get this board, I found an excellent website that meticulously describes how to get the best tones out of this unit: httpcolonslashslashfoobazaardotcomslashpodhd. But interestingly, if you listen to the audio samples posted on that site, they don't actually sound all that terrific.) Eventually I ended up buying a Digitech RP1000 and discovered EXACTLY what it was I was looking for: inspiring tones that make it very hard for me to stop playing and get to bed when I should.
I haven't come close to exploring all of the Digitech's possibilities, but it has a 'brown sound' amp model, that when combined with my EP Booster on the front end, mimics Eddie Van Halen's early guitar tone to the tee. It's quite the rush! To my ears, the difference between the POD HD and the Digitech RP1000 is like the difference between low and high definition audio.
The specs say both are 24 bit, but the POD sounds like 16 to me. The Digitech sounds very analog, with rich harmonic content, whereas the POD sounds very, very digital. This isn't what I read in other reviews, and it wasn't at all what I was expecting. So I thought I should weigh in with my experience. If you're in the market, I'd recommend you test drive, or listen to samples of both products before making a purchase. Comments about Line 6 POD HD500X Guitar Multi-Effects Processor: I come to use the HD500x after owning an AxeFX Ultra for three years. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but I don't think the Axe unit sounds much better in a live situation and the pod is definitely more user friendly.

I use mine through a full range powered monitor or a Marshall jubilee 50w half stack. The patches are drastically different for each application. People that say it sounds bad have probably not spent enough time tweaking the sounds.
This unit with a JT Variax is all the rig any weekend warrior will need. Most people will never play through a PA good enough to appreciate any sound quality differences between this and the high end processors.
Cisco router configuration backup tool. Performing backups often is importnat but also testing them can be invaluable because you need to make sure that you can rely on them when needed. So let's start by learning how to connect to a Cisco router by using telnet and console access.
Comments about Line 6 POD HD500X Guitar Multi-Effects Processor: After using single pedals and several multi effects pedals over the years I have to say this is a great pedal. For me, almost all of the presets need tweaking but I have never owned any pedal that didn't. If you can't create a tone you like then keep experimenting. I like to tell people to use tiny adjustments when creating sounds. Great tones can be passed over by a fraction of a tweak on any effects pedal.
It took me a few days just to get the feel of this pedal. The display does take time to get use to. I recommend using the computer editing program to set up all of your sounds.
It is very easy to use and much nicer to look. Set your presets to the footswitch you want and your ready to go. If you're tired of the same old brands that haven't changed much, then give this pedal a try.
Everyone has different taste. As for myself I will say this pedal is definitely worth checking out. Comments about Line 6 POD HD500X Guitar Multi-Effects Processor: The sound quality and effects of this box is what drew me to it. After much research I decided to purchase becuase of the budget I am on and the need for versatility with the cover band I am in.
The default patches do show some of the possibilites this thing can do but overall are rather unispiring and I almost returned mine at first. After spending a weekend learning the interface, it payed off and now I am very happy.
I will say need to have a good ear and some basic understanding of effects in order to make some killer setups on your own. I think my backround in mixing and recording def helped me. For someone who has never owned a DAW or is new to guitar it is probably not the best first pedal choice. Comments about Line 6 POD HD500X Guitar Multi-Effects Processor: If you are on a semi-budget and are looking for something to give you what you need for guitar effects then this is IT. Easy to use and very versatile. The computer editing software is superb.
You could spend months or years tinkering with the different variables. If you are an amateur recording artist at home THIS IS THE UNIT. It sounds amazing. Some of the weird FX are unnecessary in my view, but I suppose if you came up with some off the wall music then some of it could be useful. The Preset effects are pretty bland. The magic comes from creating your own tones/effects. This unit is an ALL in one unit.
I sold all of my other gear because this unit had everything I needed in one nice sleek looking floor unit. I was going to buy this one or the Boss GT-100.
I chose the line 6 because I have been using line 6 gear for a long time. I am used to their tones. However the GT-100 is a very competitive pedal. It is all in taste. The only thing I know of that is better than this pedal is the AxeFx II.
But I don't have 2,000$ to spend. This is the next best thing. Comments about Line 6 POD HD500X Guitar Multi-Effects Processor: I realize this isn't the saint grial for guitarrists, but for someone who can't afford expensive gear and plays different genders of music, this unit gets the job done with amazing results. Yes it will never compare with the real thing, but it does a good job simulating, and at the end of the day, the non-musician will never tell the difference (most musicians wont tell either). I have already come up with some tones that i like and use all the time at church, where I mostly play. But this unit has tons of options and possibilities that I still spend a lot of time playing and tweaking, and I'm always new tones tht I know I will use in the near future. I totaly recommend this unit.
Comments about Line 6 POD HD500X Guitar Multi-Effects Processor: Upgraded to the HD500X from a X3Live and the difference in amp models and quality of sound is astounding. Very responsive amp tones, especially out of the blackface models. Hitting the DSP limit is pretty easy to do if you are running multiple amps with effects but I can live with that and find work-arounds. The tube compressor is much better than the old and new effects such as the octo reverb and being able to assign multiple effects to one foot switch are icing on the cake, so to speak! Speaking of, new foot switches and red indicator lights are very top-notch, glad I upgraded! Comments about Line 6 POD HD500X Guitar Multi-Effects Processor: Great tone, clean tones are superb. Takes time to find some distortion that sounds good.
I play a Ibanez Premium and a JTV 59. Hooking up JTV and HD 500X is amazing what you can do. I highly recommend Glenn Delaune's tones, download them and save the trouble of writing them. Best part many options to create your own tone, yet so many options can be daunting. This is not a plug and play unit, you will need to dedicate time to getting the most out of it.
Another bonus is not carrying an amp around. Just direct to the board, and your set.
Musician's Friend has been excellent to deal with. I thought I had a problem with the HD 500X, it was on the weekend, and the next day they were already prepared to send a replacement! They outshine any customer service I have ever experienced. I will not hesitate to purchase from them, they are more personable than guitar shops where you can go in and talk to someone. 5 stars for Musician's Friend. Comments about Line 6 POD HD500X Guitar Multi-Effects Processor: I will be honest I was not a fan of Line 6 and was leary about using line 6 products until my bassist said dude just try it out!
He swears by line 6 so I said what do I have to lose? So i did my research but what turned me on to this was when I saw Blue Oyster Cult and was chatting with guitarist Richie Castellano after the show. I asked him nice tone you got those Mesa Boogie's dialed in perfect. He looked at me and said no man thats from the line 6 pod on the floor.
I said Richie there aint no way that tone was coming from that pod now comeon. Until he showed me I was floored!
So I consulted Richie before buying this and man after I bought it 3 days later I used it for a Session! Was all I could say and so did the engineer didnt even use an amp! Best of the Best Hands DOWN!! Get one today! Comments about Line 6 POD HD500X Guitar Multi-Effects Processor: The tones from the 500X are surprisingly good. I don't think there's anything this good at this price point. I've had mine a week now and I'm still finding great tones.
Theres a great selection of guitar, Acoustic,Bass amps. There's even vocal patches with a XLR mic input. The effects are typical Line 6 quality which is quite good.
Everything is here, plus some off the wall effects too. The pitch shifting effects are quite good too.
I added the new model packs that have a great selection of high gain and boutique amps, along with more bass and vocal/acoustic amps. I have owned POD's since 2.0, so I understand Line 6's software. But to the uninitiated, it can be a bit frustrating, but it's worth the time to figure out, because there's thousands of great patches available for free in just about any style you can imagine. I don't even bother making up my own patches, it's much quicker to download a few and tweak them to your preference. It's built of sturdy all steel construction. The pedal and switches feel solid too.
Line 6 Pod Hd400 Review
A second expression pedal can be easily added. There's also a myriad of connection options, including digital and USB. Along with links for your Variax and Line 6 DTS series of amps. I have made some recordings and they sounded great in the mix. I recommend this one to apartment dwellers and people that don't want a bunch of amps taking up room.
Comments about Line 6 POD HD500X Guitar Multi-Effects Processor: I have been playing guitar for 29 years and I use good sounding gear, including hand-wired all-tube amps and pro effects pedals. I bought the HD500X for direct to mixer/PA use. I am very happy with the amp and speaker modeling. Dominator pro cracked. The amp models such as Marshall copies sound great.
I own two vintage Marshalls and a Block Head 18w amp and I can honestly say that this unit can copy their tones very closely. The Fender amp models also sound realistic. The variety of sounds you can get is very impressive.
I was looking for classic and hard rock amp tones (AC/DC, The Black Crowes, Free, etc.) and this can do those and much more. The routing flexibility is great. You can place effects and amps in any order and even place them in two parallel paths and blend their volume and pan however you want. Bottom line: If you're looking for realistic amp modeling for direct recording or PA, this unit is excellent!

Metal chassis, pedal and footswitches. I own an older POD Pro xt rackmount unit. I have enjoyed the unit and gotten a lot of use out of it.
When this HD400 went on sale during monster days I bought it. Finally for the first time last night I had the chance to plug it in and test it out. I did flash the software up to POD 2.0 including the new amp models.
So i spent time and ran through all the presets. Amp emulation technology has come a long way. The only way I can describe it is that it feels like it would feel when you play a tube amp. Sustain, the air from a speaker, ease of playing is amazing.
By HiVolt edited by MacGyver last modified: 2005-08-25 21:20:32. First, you must configure your TCP/IP connection to use your modem as the default gateway. The procedure for this varies slightly depending on the operating system you are using, but the settings you will need to use are as follows: IP Address (of your machine): 10.0.0.1 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 10.0.0.138 IMPORTANT: make note of the current settings before you change them because you will need to change them back in order to connect to the Internet again. Also refer to for more information. No more cable swapping, and reconfiguring your NIC! Thomson speedtouch 121g.
Not all the preset sounds are sounds you would use, but when you get into dialing up manual sounds and spending some time with it there is no question this unit will impress you. Highly worth the money.
And where are you going to be able to get a variety of sounds like that - you'd pay more for 1 amplifier than you'd pay for this POD HD400. I love this thing. You MUST connect it to a computer and do all the updates and get the edit software to appreciate it fully.
You'll gain 7 extra amp models (some of the best in the pedal) a lot of bug fixes and using the edit software cuts down your tinkering time from hours to mere minutes.unless you get sidetracked by how good it sounds. I showed up at jam with nothing but a guitar, cables and this unit, plugged into the PA and had the same god-like tone I heard from my headphones while I was making presets in less than two minutes. Only had to adjust the levels on one or two setups that jumped through the mix more than the others. Just got it while it was on sale (and $20 cheaper than the HD300, if you can figure that one out).
It cuts through the mix like you wouldn't believe! Very impressed with the amp models, I have never liked any Mesa Rectifier sim that I've heard prior to this; they've always had a buzzy/fuzzy distortion that was unappealing, this truly gets as close as I've heard. The Soldano overdrive is great, never actually used a Soldano but it's been my preferred model out of the Line 6 sims since I first purchased a first Toneport GX and this one is simply more realistic than the prior attempts. I haven't recorded with this pedal yet but it connects easily and I assume it's sound will translate just as easy to recording as it does for headphone jamming to live rig. Not a big fan of a few of these models, and plan don't use em, I'm sure someone else will but I wish the Roland JC120 was in this unit like most of the others as opposed to either the Gibson/Supra/strange boutiques amp. Other than that for the price you can have an all in one unit for everything that cuts down on tinkering time, recording setup and spawns creativity while jamming at home.
